How to download a YouTube Short as MP4
- Copy the Shorts link. In the YouTube app, open the Short, tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address — it looks like
youtube.com/shorts/abc123XYZ_0. - Paste it above. The converter recognises Shorts links automatically.
- Convert and download. Shorts are short, so the MP4 is usually ready in a few seconds.
What you get
Shorts are vertical videos (9:16). Most are uploaded at 1080 × 1920, so choosing 1080p gives you the full-resolution file. Shorts can be up to three minutes long, so even the longest ones are small files, typically a few megabytes to around 60 MB.
The MP4 uses H.264 video and AAC audio, so it plays in Photos, Gallery, CapCut, Instagram's and TikTok's editors and every other app that handles MP4.
Shorts and music rights
Many Shorts use songs from YouTube's audio library or commercial tracks. Those songs are licensed for use inside YouTube, not for re-uploading elsewhere. If you're saving a Short to repost it, make sure it's your own video or you have the creator's permission, and check the music. Reposting someone else's Short without permission can get your account flagged on any platform.
Saving to your phone's gallery
On iPhone, the file lands in Files → Downloads; tap Share → Save Video to move it into Photos. See the iPhone guide for details. On Android, it appears in Downloads and in your Gallery app.
Please only download videos you own, have permission to use, or that are licensed for reuse. See our terms.
